We originally designed this unit as a natural successor to our 35-pin Motronic ECU; it's a plug and play swap for the 55-pin Bosch systems that were fitted to a wide variety of late '80s and early '90s classics. We have firmware available to run the E30 and Porsche 964 among others...

More commonly this ECU is used to run the LS range of engines. This was the first programmable unit manufactured in the UK to offer a drive by wire solution and it's since been proven at the highest levels of competition worldwide. Our emissions control has consistently outperformed the GM run kits when it comes to IVA/MOT and we've aimed to make it as simple as possible to get your engine up and running. Despite this, we also support complex installations with a library of CAN networks and gearbox control solutions.

Q. Are the DBW & CAN options separate external modules that need to be wired in?
A. No, everything is built in to this single package. We wanted to keep things as simple as possible for the end user and this makes for a simple wiring harness too.

Q. Can you build me a complete wiring harness to suit my car?
A. Yes, we prefer to supply our Sequential ECU with a complete loom in most cases. We keep connectors & parts in stock for the LS range of engines.

Q. Can you supply a base map?
A. We always send our systems out with a suitable base map. We have a back catalogue of thousands of engine calibrations.

Q. Why would I buy this ECU when I can reprogram an OEM ECU with EFI Live or HPTuners?
A. Programming our system is fast & real-time. Any rolling road can use our software. Our ECU has frequently bettered other systems for IVA/MOT emissions. For upgraded cams/ITBs/boost, our ECUs are easy to tune. There is no licensing cost. Wiring looms are simple to connect. All major LS engine builders in the UK use this system on their engine dynos.

Q. Do I need to buy any other sensors for my LS engine?
A. Apart from an accelerator pedal for DBW applications, no. We use all of the factory sensors on your LS motor which keeps cost to a minimum. We can build a harness to plug straight in to your crate motor.

Injection ECU

Our adaptable control unit that will run nearly any fuel injected engine with up to eight cylinders.
Used with success from banger racing to international rallying. This represents probably the best value of any programmable injection ECU on the market.


 

 

 


This ECU will run any fuel injected four, six or eight cylinder engine with a wasted spark ignition system. Fully programmable in real time and fantastically straightforward to install and tune.

Widely used in competition, the top quality US-made enclosure is waterproof making it perfect for off road use. As seen on TV, this module is the most frequently used programmable ECU fitted to TVRs including the Chimaera and Cerbera.

We offer a couple of variations of this unit meaning it can also run any MX5 engine up to 2005 and multiple VVTi setups.

FAQ's

Q. What will I need to run this on a common engine like a Zetec or Redtop?
A. In the simplest form, you need a high pressure fuel supply to suitably sized fuel injectors. Then crank sensor and trigger wheel, coil pack, TPS and coolant temperature sensor. It really can be that easy and we have championship winning vehicles running in this configuration.

Q. Can you build me a complete wiring harness to suit my car?
A. Absolutely, we can build a loom to any spec. Let us know which sensors / coils you're running, ECU location and lengths and we can give you a price.

Q. I'm building a kit car and need to pass IVA emissions - will this do what I need?
A. Most probably, yes. We have supplied these ECUs to lots of kit car manufacturers with success. This is an involved subject and can depend on your particular installation so it's best to contact us before ordering.

Q. Can you supply a base map?
A. We always send our systems out with a suitable base map. We have a back catalogue of thousands of engine calibrations.

Q. Could I build my own loom?
A. Yes, providing you have a basic understanding of electrical wiring. This module is very easy to install and we offer an unterminated harness kit to make the job easier.

Q. Could I use one ECU for multiple engines/vehicles?
A. Yes no problem. If you're swapping the number of cylinders or crank trigger patterns you will need to swap firmware on the ECU which can be done in less than a minute. The exception is with specific ECU hardware, such as our MX5 variants. With no visual identifiers, we always recommend returning a second-hand unit for testing prior to use.

FAQ's

Q. What will I need to run this on a common engine like a Zetec or Redtop?
A. In a simple 2D system, literally just connect your crank sensor and connect your coil pack. Add a 12v supply and away you go.

Q. How do I connect a PC to this ECU?
A. Our software will run on any Windows version from '98SE onwards. If you have a 9-pin serial (RS232) port on your computer you can plug straight in using the provided cable. If you only have USB connectors, use our USB adaptor cable to get connected. Some of our dealers supply these kits with a USB adaptor included.

Q. Could I use one ECU for multiple engines/vehicles?
A. A common question from the oval racing scene. Yes, no problem. Our latest v2.15 firmware means you can swap crank trigger patterns & mapping on-the-fly, not something you can do with any other system. No need to even turn on your laptop.

ML1.X ECU

The ultimate plug and play programmable ECU for your 1980's classic. Originally designed for the 911 but equally at home on many other vehicles from the era.

FAQ's

Q. What other sensors or wiring modifications will I need?
A. On a standard car, absolutely nothing. Just plug in and start your engine.

Q. I can have my Motronic system chipped/remapped - why would I buy this ECU instead?
A. Tuning the Motronic system is slow and specialists are scarce. Our sytem can be mapped in real-time by any competent tuner. Add in the diagnostic features and our support for more serious modifications (cams, ITBs, injector swaps, forced induction) and you can see it's a better investment.

Q. I could use another programmable ECU instead - why use this?
A. It's very few and far between that a programmable ECU support the double-trigger crank sensor arrangement on these early Bosch systems. As far as we're aware, no other system supports the banked low-Z injector arrangement either. Add in the fact that our ECU is already pin compatible (no wiring necessary) and that our system is race proven... it makes sense.

Q. Can I use this ECU to run a twin-plug 3.2 engine?
A. Yes, there are three inbuilt ignitors inside the ECU so you can use two of these to fire twin coils/distributors, either in the style of a 964 or with a 12-pole cap. Please note that the 12-pole caps can be a source of electrical noise however - they were not designed to run with an ECU.
